Somebody’s got a case of the blog vomits
So tomorrow I head north. I’m Chicago bound in seek of great music and a great time. Hopefully no shananigans will be involved, but I can’t make any promises. Maybe I just don’t want to. Next week I should have much more music for you to listen to after going to Lollapalooza. For months I’ve been listening to the bagillion bands that are going to be there this weekend and I can’t tell you how excited I am. If you can make it to Chicago this weekend, you most definitely should. In the mean time, there are a couple of artists that haven’t made it to the top of my “blog priority list” lately so I lay them before you now. This is a bit of what I like to call blog-vommiting-of-the-mouth so I apologize. And I apologize to them for not getting my full devoted attention, but by no means does it mean they aren’t fantastic.
Lights – My brother actually introduced me to her music. She is a Canadian chic who makes “intergalactic-electro music.” It’s pretty cool unique stuff. Not for everyone though. http://www.iamlights.com/
Alexi Murdoch – Most of the music from the movie Away We Go is from Alexi. Very Iron and Wine. Chill music and oh so delightful. http://www.aleximurdoch.com/index_site.html
Musikanto – I found him through Joe Pug on Myspace and was seriously impressed. His stuff is darn good, like the song Flowers and Stinging Bees. But he doesn’t seem to be marketed very well. Someone needs to get a hold of him. http://www.musikantomusic.com/
Betsy Roo- I found her through Kate York on Twitter. She writes music for a lot of people, including Mindy Smith whom I love and adore. http://www.myspace.com/betsyroomusic
Ok, enough blog vomiting. I promise next week to write full blown blogs about the amazing bands I am about to partake in. They are just a night’s sleep away.

Hard to Know
Jul 8, 2009 Artists
When I was a sophomore in college, my friend handed me Mindy Smith’s debut album One Moment More. Instantly, I fell in love with her soft voice, folk harmonies and spiritual lyrics. Her music has a way of getting to the heart of things and it really affected me emotionally. That is why I got really excited when I recently found out she has her fourth album coming out August 11th, Stupid Love. To be honest, her other 2 records didn’t grab me as much as her first. Still, she is definitely someone you want to hear and not just because of the pretty sounds she makes, but because her music can change how you live your life. If you truly embrace it.
“Hard to Know”
Well, you should’ve heard the way
I’ve been talking to myself
Treating her like common trash
On the side of the road
And you should’ve seen the ride
I was taking straight to hell
Handing my soul
To the likes of the devil
Sometimes it’s hard to know
That you need to be saved
‘Til you hit the bottom
And rattle that cage
Sometimes you just gotta keep
Digging awy
Until you break through
To the light of day
I really didn’t care
‘Cause I was trying to hurt myself
A sticky situation
I’m still trying to work it out
And I didn’t want to know
That I was the one to blame
Pointing my finger
Tryin’ to push all the blame away
Sometimes it’s hard to know
That you need to be saved
‘Til you hit the bottom
And rattle that cage
Sometimes you just gotta keep
Digging awy
Until you break through
To the light of day
I don’t wanna die this way
I don’t wanna die this way
I don’t wanna die this way
I know Jesus is alive
And He’s saving me everyday
It just took a little while
To figure out I had to pray
Sometimes it’s hard to know
That you need to be saved
‘Til you hit the bottom
And rattle that cage
Sometimes you just gotta keep
Praying away
Until you break through
To the light of day
The light of day
The light of day
